Mohammad Zahirul Islam
The Deputy Commissioner and the wise District Magistrate, Chuadanga
Mohammad Zahirul Islam assumed charge on September 12, 2024 as Deputy Commissioner and learned District Magistrate at the Deputy Commissioner's Office, Chuadanga. Before joining this office, he was working as a deputy secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
Mohammad Zahirul Islam was born in a noble Muslim family in Afzalkandi village of Kalakandi union in Titas upazila of Comilla district. Mohammad Zahirul Islam, a member of 24th batch of BCS (Administration) cadre, joined the office of Divisional Commissioner, Khulna as Assistant Commissioner on July 02, 2005. He worked in Bagerhat, Chandpur, Brahmanbaria, Rangamati and Faridpur districts at different stages of his career. He gained experience in formulating, implementing and monitoring government laws, policies, strategies and development projects at the field level by serving as Assistant Commissioner (Land) in Akhaura and Kasba Upazilas of Brahmanbaria District and as Upazila Nirbahi Officer in Longadu Upazila and Faridpur Sadar Upazila of Rangamati District. He also served as Senior Assistant Secretary in the Office of the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner and Local Government Department and Deputy Secretary in the Local Government Department and Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
Mohammad Zahirul Islam obtained first division in SSC from Jahapur Kamlakant Academy in Comilla district in 1993 and HSC in 1995 from Dhaka Residential Model College. Later, he graduated from Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET) in Civil Engineering in 2002 and MSc in Project Management from University of Bedfordshire, UK in 2013. He completed Post Graduate Diploma in Sustainable Local Economic Development from Erasmus University, Netherlands. He has also participated in various trainings and seminars at home and abroad including Sweden, South Korea, China, India.
